Stockholm World Water Week 2019

The World Bank Group

Background

A WASH-Nutrition Reality-Check – Perspectives and a Pakistan case

This event is meant to spur insights for integrating WASH and nutrition through the lens of implementers, knowledge networks, funders, private sector, policy advocates and countries. This is an operational-focused event complementing other planned events on evidence and accountability.

In brief snapshots we hear from key stakeholders how they integrate WASH & nutrition, and participants vote using an online tool on where they fit along the continuum of integration. This self-reflection moment comes two years after SUN and SWA platforms signed a Partnership Note, and the 2017 publication 2 + 6 = 17 Linking WASH and Nutrition (German WASH Network) which showed a clear trend towards integrated WASH-Nutrition projects.

Then to make this even more tangible the World Bank and government of Pakistan will share via an Ignite Talk a case study of their multisectoral program aimed at reducing stunting, highlighting their perspectives on how they’ve integrated WASH-nutrition, and challenges they’ve encountered.

We end with moderated Q&A with the audience on a) the case study, and challenges and rewards of integrating WASH & nutrition, b) results of the voting and self-perception of how integration of WASH & nutrition is happening in practice, and c) what needs to happen going forward?
