b) General information on data processing

When using this website, personal data may be processed. The data protection term “personal data” refers to all information relating to a specific or identifiable individual. The IP address can also be a personal date. An IP address is assigned to each device connected to the Internet by the Internet provider so that it can send and receive data. When you use the website, we collect information that you yourself provide. We also automatically collect certain information about your use of the website during your visit to the website.

We process personal data in compliance with the relevant data protection regulations, in particular the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG). Data processing by us will only take place on the basis of legal permission. When using this website, we process personal data only with your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 letter a) GDPR), to fulfil a contract to which you are a party, or at your request to carry out pre-contractual measures (Art. 6 para. 1 letter b) GDPR), to fulfil a legal obligation (Art. 6 para. 1 GDPR). c) GDPR) or if the processing is necessary to safeguard our legitimate interests or the legitimate interests of a third party, unless your interests or fundamental rights and freedoms, which require the protection of personal data, prevail (Art. 6 para. 1 sentence f) GDPR). If you apply for an open position in our company, we will also process your personal data for the purpose of deciding whether to establish an employment relationship (§ 26 Para. 1 S. 1 BDSG).

c) Duration of storage

Unless otherwise stated in the following notices, we will only store the data for as long as is necessary to achieve the processing purpose or to fulfil our contractual or statutory obligations. Such statutory storage obligations may arise in particular from commercial or tax law regulations.

d) Technical service providers

Unless otherwise stated in the following information, the data will be processed on the servers of technical service providers commissioned by us for this purpose. These service providers process the data only according to explicit instructions and are contractually obliged to guarantee sufficient technical and organisational measures for data protection.

e) Data transmission to the USA

Visiting our website may involve the transfer of certain personal data to the USA. For the transfer of data to the USA as a third country, i.e. a country in which the GDPR is not applicable law, the European Commission has decided in accordance with Art. 45 GDPR that an adequate level of data protection is required for companies certified under the EU-US Privacy Shield. The transfer to the USA will then take place in a permissible manner.

2. Processing Server Log Files

When using our website for purely informative purposes, general information that your browser transmits to our server is initially stored automatically (i.e. not via registration). This includes by default: browser type/version, operating system used, page accessed, previously visited page (referrer URL), IP address, date and time of the server request and HTTP status code.

The processing is carried out to safeguard our legitimate interests and is based on the legal basis of Art. 6 Para. 1 Letter f) GDPR. This processing serves the technical administration and security of the website. The stored data will be deleted after seven days unless there is a justified suspicion of illegal use on the basis of concrete indications and further examination and processing of the information is necessary for this reason.

We are not in a position to identify you as a data subject on the basis of the stored information. Art. 15 to 22 GDPR therefore do not apply pursuant to Art. 11 para. 2 GDPR, unless you provide additional information for the purpose of exercising the rights set out in these articles, which enables your identification.

3. Contact Options and Seminar Enquiries

If you would like to send a message via the contact e-mail provided or register for a seminar via the contact option provided, we will process the transmitted data for the purpose of answering your enquiry.

If your request is directed to the conclusion or execution of a contract with us, Art. 6 Para. 1 Letter b) GDPR is the legal basis for data processing. Otherwise, we process the data on the basis of our legitimate interest in contacting inquiring persons. The legal basis for data processing is then Art. 6 Para. 1 Letter f) GDPR.

4. WASH ePaper

On our website we offer the possibility to register for our online magazine WASH ePaper. After the registration we will inform you regularly about current news about our offers. A valid e-mail address is required for registration. To verify the e-mail address, you will first receive a registration e-mail, which you must confirm via a link (double opt-in). If you subscribe to the newsletter on our website, we process personal data such as your e-mail address and your name on the basis of your consent. The processing is based on the legal basis of Art. 6 Para. 1 Letter a) GDPR.

You can revoke your consent at any time with effect for the future, for example, via the “unsubscribe” link in the newsletter or by contacting us via the channels mentioned above. The legality of the data processing operations that have already taken place remains unaffected by the revocation.

When registering for the newsletter, we also store the IP address as well as the date and time of registration. The processing of these data is necessary in order to be able to prove a given consent. The legal basis results from our legal obligation to document your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 letter c)) in conjunction with Art. 7 para. 1 GDPR).

We also analyse the reading behaviour and opening rates of our online magazine. For this purpose we collect and process pseudonymised usage data which we do not combine with your e-mail address or IP address.

The legal basis for the analysis of our newsletter is Art. 6 para. 1 letter f) GDPR and the processing serves our legitimate interest in optimising our newsletter. You can object to this at any time by contacting one of the contact channels mentioned above.

We use the MailChimp service of The Rocket Science Group LLC d/b/a MailChimp (675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE, Suite 5000 Atlanta, Georgia 30308, USA, “MailChimp”) to manage subscribers, send the online magazine and perform analysis. Your e-mail address will therefore be sent to MailChimp by us. The processing takes place on our behalf and is based on the legal basis of Art. 6 letter f) GDPR and serves our legitimate interest in the optimization and economic dispatch of our magazine. If you do not want your data to be processed by MailChimp, you should not register for the ePaper or unsubscribe from it.

The Rocket Science Group LLC d/b/a MailChimp is certified under the EU-US Privacy Shield (https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt0000000TO6hAAG&status=Active).

5. Cookies

We use cookies on our website. Cookies are small text files that are stored by your browser when you visit a website. This identifies the browser used and can be recognised by our web server. This processing serves our legitimate interest in making our website more user-friendly, effective and secure.

6. Google Analytics

We use the Google Analytics service of Google LLC (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA; “Google”) to evaluate our website visits. Google uses cookies to help the website analyze how users use the site. This involves the processing of personal data in the form of online identifiers (including cookie identifiers), IP addresses, device identifiers and information about your interaction with our website. The information generated by the cookie about users’ use of our website is generally transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. Google will use this information on our behalf to evaluate users’ use of our online services, to compile reports on activities within our website and to provide us with other services relating to the use of our website and the Internet. Pseudonymous user profiles can be created from the processed data.

We only use Google Analytics with enabled IP anonymization. This means that the IP address of the user is shortened by Google within member states of the European Union or in other contracting states of the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. The IP address transmitted by the user’s browser is not merged with other Google data.

7. Integrated Services and Third Party Content

We use services and content (hereinafter collectively referred to as “content”) provided on our Website by third parties. For such an integration a processing of your IP address is technically necessary, so that the contents can be sent to your browser. Your IP address will therefore be transmitted to the respective third party providers.

This data processing is carried out in order to safeguard our legitimate interests in the optimisation and economic operation of our website and is based on the legal basis of Art. 6 Para. 1 Letter f) GDPR.

You can object to this data processing at any time via the settings of the browser used or certain browser extensions. One such extension is the uMatrix matrix-based firewall for Firefox and Google Chrome browsers. Please note that this may limit the functionality of the website.

We have incorporated into our website the content of the following services provided by third parties:

Those processing operations are based on the legal basis of Article 6(1)(c) of the Treaty. c) GDPR in connection with Art. 15 to 22 GDPR and § 34 para. 2 BDSG.
