Learning Event: FSM in Emergencies

A virtual in-depth event on Faecal Sludge Management (FSM) in Emergencies


The Learning Event will be held between 9am and 1pm (CET) on Tuesday, November 29th, 2022, as an online virtual event. It will be conducted in English and offered free of charge..

Course Description

The event “Faecal Sludge Management (FSM) in Emergencies” is offered as part of the German WASH Network’s strategic training portfolio with support from the German Federal Foreign Office.

The aim of the event is to provide participants with information on new developments and approaches from the subject area, and to discuss trends. This includes:

  • Insight into the latest technical assessment of Faecal Sludge Management in the Rohingya Crisis Response in Bangladesh
  • Experiences in the use of a faecal sludge field laboratory
  • FSM/ Wastewater Treatment in humanitarian crises, examples from Cox Bazar, Bangladesh and Ahrtal, Germany
  • SaniHub, a knowledge platform for improving sanitation in emergencies

Target Group

The target group of the learning event are practitioners and experts from the field of sanitation. This refers in particularly to the alumni’s of the regional workshops “WASH in Emergencies” and interested staff of member organizations of the German WASH network, as well as of their partner organizations. But the learning event is also open to individuals who have no affiliation with the German WASH Network.
